Chemo Cap

Rain, Rain...

Well, guess I really don't mind the rain since I don't intend to go anywhere today. After that trip to the eye center with Ethan... The trip Thursday went by super fast. I was a bit disappointed when I found out that his arrival time at the hospital on Friday was to be 10:30 -- which meant he probably wouldn't be taken back to the OR until noon. Then Friday morning at 7:00, the hospital called -- there was a cancellation, would we mind coming in at 9:00 instead -- WOO HOO! We'd get home earlier!! Not so. After sitting in OR waiting area - where he gets his gown and pre-medication and all (a little 7x7 foot room with chairs and computer/monitors etc) for over 45 minutes before anyone ever came by... Then we're finally told around 10:45 that he's next, get ready... Whirlwind of events and nurses scampering about chaotically... Um, sorry, he has to wait. Gotta do a cataract surgery first and it will be at least 2 hours. So we sat in that tiny room for over 4 hours. Ethan wasn't taken back into the OR until almost 2:00. He hadn't eaten since 6pm the night before. He kept asking for ravioli and crying. We didn't pull out of the hospital parking lot until 4:11. But they let us have free parking because of the wait. Gee, thanks. Traffic was rough for a while. We stopped at one place to eat - all we could find on the interstate - a chicken and BBQ place -- thinking they'd have something Ethan could eat. But no. So I had to put the starving child back into the car as he screamed asking for potatoes. We finally find a Bojangles 30 miles down the interstate and get him some mashed potatoes and a biscuit. Poor thing. We didn't get home until about 9:45 last night. And he didn't go back to sleep until a little after 11. But we're doing okay this morning -- and when I asked him what he wanted for breakfast this morning, he said ravioli. : )

I didn't have to strain or go sit directly in front of the TV to be able to see the stitches. (Ethan is usually asleep on the couch until I go to bed.) Neato-Knito. And pardon the stupidity--- had a migraine this morning and the medicine I take makes me a bit loopy.

Knitty Kitty

This picture is Granny wearing a headband I made for her. It's also cabled. Found this owl cable pattern --she has always collected owls, so I had to make it for her. It turned out great, and it looks so good on her. I was afraid it would be too wide, but I really like it on her.

Got my first Noro yarn today. Now the hard part will be deciding what to make with it...

Scatterbrained

I get all these ideas or find these really fun yarns and can't just work on one project until it's done. My poor little swimsuit cover-up... on the needles, and hasn't been touched in at least two weeks. My corset tee has been sitting idle since Thursday. But I have made several things in the meantime -- a tote bag crocheted from grocery bags, a headband for myself, a coffee mug cozy, a hair scrunchy, a scarf (almost finished -- have to decide on how long to make it) -- and I have another headband in progress. That doesn't count the projects I've started and frogged.

The pictures really don't do justice to the projects. The pattern on the mug cozy is really textured. You can't see the squares very well on here. And the headband is made from the same yarn, but the two items look so different. My "Midnight Raspberry" scarf is so incredibly soft. I could sleep in that yarn! I just love it! And I really like the contrast of the pinkish sparkly yarn mixed in there.

And despite the projects I have lying around begging to be completed, I just can't stop myself from casting on new things...

Haven't had much computer time lately. I did get a good bit of work done on my corset tee. I have maybe a few more inches of ribbing and then the border/button holes and sewing on the buttons... That is, after Heather goes with me to help me pick out some buttons...

Ethan is doing so great with the potty training. By the end of summer, he may just be out of diapers!

Yesterday morning was really nice, so I took him to the park. When we got home, he wanted to play in his wagon, so I took him for a walk around the neighborhood. Then he pulled me across the yard in it -- wish I could have gotten a picture!

He's interested in the alphabet and is learning new letters consistently. I have made up some songs with letter sounds and he wanted to sing about "F" yesterday. So after I finished the song, he looked like he was trying to copy what my mouth was doing, so I asked him if he could say /f/. He signed "fish" -- he's recognizing beginning sounds!

I got a picture of him in the middle of spelling his name -- He was on the letter "h" here.
